For a VolumeAnalysis <FWHM>=6 is typical. For a SphericalAnalysis, it is common to apply minimal smoothing (<FWHM>=2) in VolumeSpace and then apply additional smoothing in SphericalSpace using FsFastSphericalSmooth.
